My name is Arija L. Williams.

I am an independent character animator with a passion for illustration and storytelling. ​

My love for animation extends beyond the aesthetic aspect of visual work. The most magical part of being an animator is when after hours of drawing, I finally press play. Having the ability to see my characters to come alive on my screen is far more satisfying than any award I could possibly achieve. 

 

In tandem, connection to my community is something I hold very close to my practice, working closely with my peers as well as my audience. As a creative I find my ability to tell my own stories important to me, but supporting others with their stories they want to tell takes precedent. I have found in my years as an independent artist that many people want to head projects, but not many want to support them.

I want to be that support. I am that support.

I take on a lot of volunteer projects with other aspiring animators. I don't mind volunteering my time to contribute to a project, and look forward to doing so.

Storytelling and animation are not just a means to an end for me, the process of creating something worthwhile brings me so much joy. I find happiness in my process, not just the end result.
